The Amazonia Premiere Set from Brazil

Chuck, I have nothing or no prejudice against Indian sellers, or others, but what I will irritate this business of selling chess pieces are the names of the stupid and pompous of some sets, chess pieces so elaborate become a true object "kitsch" Knights who seem ponies, or horsehair and bases so stupid that misrepresent any Staunton. And...untruthful replicas of certain sets.
We lost a lot the simplicity of some American or European sets, so to collectors some of these original pieces, or good reproductions are a joy.
This Amazônia Set is pure class, simplicity, objectivity and proportionality of pieces, combined with an elegance, and remarkable design aesthetic. A few years ago some called this set the "Rolls Royce" of the chess pieces! ( Ah Ah! Dagoberto called Cadillac-For the Amarican Market?) Do not come that far, but it is a work of art is! In terms of Drummond's poem, Flag, Cecilia, a MPB music Buarque Caetano, Bethania, a Portinari framework, I have no doubt! Rolls Royce do not know but a kind of Pelé of the chess pieces is... yes sir!
Congratulations a beautiful set, love at first sight. A game that is a pleasure just to look. Chuck, only you can tell the effect of these pieces on the board, and its color contrast perfection, and the visual balance of this wonder.
No, Brazil is not only Carnival, Samba, Soccer, or MPB! Amazônia and Bragança are images of Brazilian chess. Too bad that in Brazil itself, since little is going linking these sets, preferring to this aesthetic chess-nonsense German -Knight that invade the boards as plagues!
Thanks Chuck for the pics, and you clean my eyes of vulgarity that goes in the chessmen market. One of the most beautiful sets that I see for years in Chess Com.
This is for informaticcobach29 to! He Had to a Amazonia Treasure!

NadinTheChessExpert, your Braganca chess pieces are beautiful!
Where can I get chuck's set

Here is mine Chuck, how did you got that set?
Nadin, if I'm not mistaken, yours is the sister set, the Braganca. Also a work of art. I ordered it direct from the designer, Dirk Dagobert van Riemsdijk. Message me if you want his email.

Gorgeous set. Walnut is exquisite looking. Love the pawns too.
Thanks, Mike! That walnut is rich. It also comes in Brazilian rosewood at over twice the price.

That set is beautiful, Chuck. I love the look of the ivorywood white pieces -- the grain of the wood is obviously quite dense. How heavy are the pieces? That's quite an acquisition! How did you find it?
Many thanks, RC. The pieces are quite heavy. When I get a chance I'll get the scale out and weigh them. The grain is beautiful, especially on the white bishop pictured. I came across the designer's email. I'd be happy to message it to you.
Newly arrived from Brazil is this gorgeous Amazonia-Premiere set in walnut. The king is four inches tall, and the pieces are heavily weighted. It arrived in a wood carying case with felted racks for the pieces. A more detailed review will follow. Many thanks to Dirk Dagobert van Riemsdijk.
