Still,I feel for him,having memories of numerous issues with C.B......Took me two threads to get it cleared up back then,

On this forum, I have seen problems from all these companies at one time or another.  Remember the problem with the Queen design changing with Noj?

No company has gone through problem free.

The sign of a good company is not that there are no problems but how they handle those problems.

I'm not sure if the community is absolute, but what I know for sure from this opportunity is that they sell the product different with the descriptions, and conscientiously, we should pick a company that makes good quality products without lies.

You don't know they are lying and it is unfair to suggest CB doesn't make good quality products. I bought a set from CB and it is very beautiful.

I don't agree with people saying you're whining and whinging but I think your complaints cover too wide an area - they are overly demanding. You had a right to complain and to get your money back 100% but to ask them to change their website images assumes they're deceiving their customers. Now they could be - I don't know - but neither do you unless you know others who have received the very same crappy set as the one you received. It could be yours was a mistake. What did CB tell you? Or didn't they admit to anything? Personally I like CB and their selection of sets. The prices are great compared to other sites. I have no (real) complaints with them and the one I do have is minor and post related. No one should disparage an entire company because of one bad purchase. That's not fair.

Thank you for your objective and analytical comments. I won't raising questions about the company's overall philosophy. Their answer was the product difference that comes from hand carving, and they would give you a refund if I want. CB customer service man didn't have mind to change product description. What I want is that I don't want other people to make the same mistakes as mine.

In Korea case, every people reacted well against to COVID. we only have 76,926 cases and 0.01% death. We learned earlier before you said, you can learn many things from BBC interview of our minister for COVID reacting 10 months ago.

Lighthouse....I am pretty much aware of the statistical info,since my son is an infectious disease specialist....You "do" make a salient point!

My feelings about this particular issue is to be somewhat sympathetic towards the poster,because #1-a bit over one hundred bucks is alot for such a crummy set and #2-I don't know the buyer's financial situation.I think he said it was his first set and maybe this was serious money for the guy(hope I'm not wrong here and I'm not about to reread the whole thread,having spent 5 hours in a hospital parking lot and freezing my tush off,while my wife had eye surgery).

My empathy comes from buying 12 sets,2 boards and one case from C.B. and had a miserable time getting the issues squared away to my satisfaction....In 3 cases,the replacement pieces were poorly done and did not match the originals.I had to spend extra monies to get everything to my satisfaction.

Not easily forgotten...Sorry if I'm coming off a bit to strong.

I'm very sad to hear that you're now having a hard time. Sincerely I will prey for your wife surgery done well. This chess set is my 3rd one. rest of that you are right. I don't think $100 is a small money even I have a lot of money happy.png

Looking at the exchange rate, it appears the South Korean guy paid Chess Bazaar over US$110 for that piece POS chess set and board.

That enough to feed the entire factory workforce for a month.

A sober reality , whining & whinge won't help  on a chess forum , After CB offer a Refund to the OP, Put it down to a bad deal with them , Life is full of hard knocks , As you know !

Good luck with your wife eye surgery .

It's considerate of you to protect others from your bad purchase. I think by posting your experience here helps. I would think twice about buying that set and if I did I would be talking to CB first.

For me the sticking point was Lee trying to change (persistently) the images on CB's website. I might have requested a change as well because who wants others to suffer the same crappy set. But if they didn't change the image straight away, I'd drop it.

What if that set different from the pictures was one of a very limited number that was not identical to the photos, and sets coming after are the same as the photos?

Well yeah and that would have been wrong. You can't post a 4 hinged folding board and send a 2 hinged board even though it was a limited number. That's false advertising. Plus they didn't say anything about it - did not confirm or deny.

But they offered the refund, which corrected the problem.  These places receive the sets packaged and usually do not inspect each piece of each set before shipping.

My point is that changing the pictures might be the wrong thing to do.
