What are the best free downloads for chess players?

Please suggest your favorite free downloads:

- database programs

- databases of games

- engines

- e-books

- anything else

 

I use SCID (database program) + KingBase (database of games). Both are very good but I am looking forward to your suggestions!

Musts: Lucas Chess, SCID, Chess Hero, ChessX and/or Tarrasch.

I use Tarrasch all the time for analysis and database position searches.  I have SCID vs PC but I rarely use it, since I find it to be overly complicated and cumbersome for the tasks I want it to perform.
