The board that was linked to is nice but the light wood color they chose for the inlay border. Is outright ugly. It looks like wood glue that was never cleaned up and sanded out. I would have chosen a better looking wood option that doesn't look like wood glue at 1st glance. That's my 2 cents. As for the currency I would have to guess American Dollars.
What do you think of this board from MTM Wood?

@KnightsForkCafe I didn't even notice the yellow inlay until you mentioned it. I agree it would be better if the inlay was dark like the one posted by @QtoQ but I still think overall the board is very nice. At worst it might bother me just a little if I owned that board. It would bother me a lot more if the board had misaligned squares, but that's my pet peeve.

They're extremely costly. Have fun!
Lol
#33, now that one I like- wow, how much is that bad boy?
He has a similar one listed right now for $230 (I assume this is USD but it's not clear on the website).

Are you getting a new board, what one do you like most?
No I'm just window shopping (I enjoy just looking at chess stuff); I like #17 and #30 the most; #33 is great and #32 is something very different/unique, which is why I found it interesting (it's purpleheart and movingui (I've never heard of this unique yellow wood)).

post pictures when you succumb- which you will
LOL. I already have a few nice boards; the price/hassle of shipping is keeping my lust for these boards at bay...for the moment.

I know the cost of shipping is a pain- I want a plastic Algeria set or Premier set but you cant get them in the UK and the shipping from the US is more than the pieces but I will cave in soon and purchase. There are tons of great Staunton sets over here tho. But I really do like the Frank C ones.
Yeah, also just the prices of the actual boards...$500 USD is quite a bit (+$150 USD shipping), it's definitely worth it for these though.

Post picture #31 is extremely impressive! I just emailed Andrei of a price quote on that one with 60mm / 2.36" playing squares. If I can swing the cost, it will become my 4th acquisition from mtmwood.com.

Yep, I kind of prefer the one with the ash frame to keep with the "yellow" theme, but this one is very beautiful too. Can you share the price quote you get (if you don't mind)?

I never do that, I keep those facts private but if you notice mtm.com boards made in that square size it's relatively in that ballpark depending on the woods used, I like the exotic type species of wood.

Yes, that one has the playing squares in that wood combination in that photo post #31 you shared a little while ago. The frame appears to be black walnut which is one of my favorite types of woods for a board's squares or accenting frame. The grain structure in the movingui wood is quite prominent and flows rather nicely for the light squares in the playing field of 64. If you prefer boards @ 2.25" what is the height of most of your set's kings 3.75"? Some European players like a crowded board I don't I like the pieces to look just right but not as if they were overmatched in size in the playing field. Since most of my sets kings range on average between 3.75" and 4.0", I feel the 2.36" size square to be the best of both worlds, not too large or minuscule for the pieces to look and fit properly. Just my 2¢.
I sometimes wonder about that for places like MTM and Noj. These places are not going to be around forever. They will close one day and then there will be no more chances to get stuff from them.
Yes absolutely; both of these companies are the men behind them, therefore we’ll be out of luck when they retire (just like with the original Drueke etc.). On a related note, the same thing is true about chess books; it is expensive to print a run of books and because chess books are so niche, we usually only get that first run...
