what is going on with square off?

Did anybody else get the update email from Square Off? They now want me to pay $25 shipping for the neo board I ordered 3 years ago. They say they can no longer offer free shipping because rates have increased. No kidding. The world has changed a lot in 3 years. I’ve been waiting patiently for a long time. Late last year I asked for a refund and they ignored me. How can they possibly expect people to give them another cent when they can’t even give a concrete date of when we will receive the board. I was amused with this whole thing but when I am told that I have to pay more money because you cant properly run a crowdfunding campaign, the amusement quickly turns to anger.

😂That’s a new model of customer service.

Hi

I am in the UK and had been waiting for 3 years too. I paid the additional £25 because I was already in a decent £££ and I'm glad I did as the board arrived today and I am very pleased with it so far.

I had about given up on getting this kickstarter, but patience paid off.

You guys should not fall for these gimmicky business ventures so easily
Lotus960

Their next demand will be for you guys to go out into the village square so they can throw mud at you. A real "square off" activity. 😁

DEFGraves

no kidding, i emailed them saying refund my money im not waiting for your product.

overall company seemed legit with a bunch of following and legitimacy and they surely could be having issues, but its pretty ridiculous to wait so long for a chess board when that's all your company makes. hell i ordered a carry case and extra pieces eta was a year!!

This was a kickstarter project. You know what you are getting into when you back a kickstarter. The project is new, not an off the shelf product, development has not started, production may encounter difficulties, the project may be delayed, it might never produce a product due to unforeseen factors.

This is the way of Kickstarters.

In this case there was a major delay, but with covid and microprocessor shortages this was entirely understandable.

The delivered product is fantastic and it drops jaws from everyone who sees it for the first time.
I’m glad a hung on and didn’t request a refund, and congrats to the square off team for eventually getting there under challenging circumstances.

DEFGraves

i understand that and truly want the product but a year 2 years+ is ridiculous. and its true it was a Kickstarter but it was a kickstarted what 2017? its been almost 6 years since it started there. I completely understand having to wait but don't tell me I will have my product in 6 months then change to 9 then 11 now a year and more with others you know? I am sure its fantastic just the issue of getting it and how their support seems to be handling the issue I feel is what's truly pushing people off it and losing trust.

alistairgd

You’re the USA? Those were the orders that shipped first. When did you order yours? It’s the 3 years - 2 years old that are shopping now AFAIK.

DEFGraves

my order was right about a year ago told i would receive in June, support was no help. then got told i will get a $50 credit 3 weeks ago never got that. then they told me oh we have stock that can fulfil your order! this was 2 weeks ago i said awesome lets do it. no response, no updates so i asked for my refund and just cancel the order after 4 emails with no response in over a week. i will just buy one from eBay or wait for these to be readily available or something. I understand companies are having issues but its how you handle those issues that matter to me and this has been handled pretty poorly which genuinely sucks because i would LOVE to have their product.

alistairgd

That’s cool you were offered a credit, I waited three years without any kind of gesture. Pretty bad they didn’t follow through on it though.

Hope you get one somehow eventually. Half the fun is watching people when they see the pieces moving by themselves 😂

DEFGraves

yeah it is what it is i try to stay open minded and understanding but its frustrating, support really is what ticked me off but as i said i really do want one lol sooner or later ill get one

DEFGraves

they go back to me and my response if i wanted to get the boards they have in stock and can ship to me or a refund, i said absolutely if you have some stock i will happily take it, if you don't have the stock and cant fulfil my order lets do the refund. guess what just hit my bank account lol i assume they didn't have the stock or just said screw this guy lol

Pawnerai

Glad you got your money back. If/when more and more people demand refunds, that Kickstarter money is going to run out sooner rather than later. I'm guessing much of it is already spent! Take that money and go out for a wonderful dinner with a loved one. Celebrate being DONE with this ordeal.

The feedback for square off boards has been ok to great but their supply chain is quite weak.

Maybe you can have better luck buying from a store which has a dependable supply chain.
