An interesting poll on chess clocks.
I've used DGTs and really like them. Haven't used a Chronos.
I think it comes down to personal preferrence. I have the DGT XL and I got my son the North American version. I like both of those. They may not be as sturdy as something like a Chronos, but are nice clocks. I really like the options available on the XL model, though it is a bit more expensive than the North American.
i would say chronos, mephisto salitek, (which i have but it broke so i need a new one) and zmart fun is basically a chronos but is the most beautiful clock i have ever seen (pretty much the only one). its amazing

Bravo! [Standing ovation!}
If you ask the best buy for the money, I nominate the DGT North American. You can get about 2 1/2 of them for the price of a Chronos.
I've had the blue DGT for two years and am well satisfied. It's been through many tournaments and has survived opponents slamming their piece down on the rocker. Batteries are easy to change.
I would buy one of those ZMFs if they were available in Europe but i am also really satisfied with my DGT 2010.
I think it depends on your definition of "best." The Chronos is a rugged, proven clock which is a benchmark. On the negative side, Chronos seems to be slow in repairs (if ever needed) and they are expensive, plus they seem to be almost unavailable these days for sale. I have one and I love it, but I'm not sure I'd buy another as a replacement due to potential down time if and when it causes problems.
This also depends on what you are using it for. If you are expecting it to be used for blitz and getting banged around, the chronos is well worth the investment, they are built like a tank. But if you are using it for classic tournaments, you may want something that is more intuitive to set. (with only three buttons, chronos have a bit of a learning curve...not impossible though)
