It’s an onyx / marble chess board. They were / are commonly sold in open air markets in Mexico. You haven’t yet lived till you haggled in Spanish with a Mexican market vendor, to buy one for couple hundred pesos complete with fragile but beautifully carved Mezo-American styled pieces made from onyx and marble.
If you can’t speak Spanish you’ll pay a lot more.

Recently I went to an estate sale and purchased this antique/vintage chess board. Everything in the house was pre-dated 1990, essentially nothing newer than that.
I was curious if anyone possible had any info on this chess board. It is EXTREMELY heavy, and has a small little blurb on the back (in Spanish I believe). It also is about 17 inches in length both ways. Let me know if anyone has any clue what this is or could possibly point me in the right direction! If it is nothing special still a pretty cool find!
