Zagreb set --- Ebonized/Boxwood --- from ACE

It's ok to advice some cheaper sets, your first post does that and it's ok. After that, it's rude and unnecessary to say that he was ripped off, everyone do what they want with their money, and maybe he saw that the set he bought was better for him even at a higher price than the one you adviced.

Well if you enjoy getting ripped off. By all means continue to overspend on sets that will gladly take your money. Personally I think that it is a shame that you guys celebrate getting ripped off. This is the way I see it and it disgusts me. If you guys are unwilling to see it for what it is. There is nothing more I can say. I said what needed to be said and that is all I can do. Piece Out and enjoy playing. :peaceful

Definition of irony... someone pointing out to KnightsForkCafe he could have bought the exact same 'Mexican Drueke Players Choice' chess set for half of what he paid for it on Etsy ("I have already purchased the one on Etsy. Oh well such as life")

We are lucky to have the Chess Set Police out in force on here to keep us safe.

What's the wood of the board?

Maple and Walnut.  It's actually just one of the tournament boards from House of Staunton --- $69 if I remember correctly.  I sprayed it with polyurethane because the surface was a bit rough.  Since it was a cheaper board, I didn't mind risking damaging it with the spray.

Indeed, if you're referring to the ACE Zagreb, I was just looking at it yesterday and thinking I should make an exception to my new rule of not buying any sets until I sell my RCM Dubrovnik '70!
