2000 rapid looking for a coach to improve

I've been stuck at 2000 for almost a year now and haven't had a coach for months. I'm a young player looking to improve and clearly need a coach to help me. With my first coach I went up 1000 points online in less than a year. Does anyone have any suggestions for a coach that you've worked with and had good experiences with for a reasonable price? If there are any coaches out there who would be willing to try, pm me, thanks!

How did you progress from 1800-2000 if you don’t mind me asking? I'd love to have some games some day? happy.png

yes, I already do a lot of puzzles daily, have done many of chess.com’s puzzles and drills, but it isn’t the same as having a real coach, who can interact with you, talk, explain things clearly, and actually adapt to my specific needs.

I honestly don’t really remember that well as it was around a year ago that it happened, but at that time I had a coach (who I no longer have as I didn’t feel I could learn much more from), but back then I really worked at chess a lot. I think the main reason was because I just played so many games, analyzing them and learning from my mistakes. I’ve always tried to do as many puzzles as I can and worked on middlegames and endgames a lot. I’m sure you could too, I would be up for some unrated games whenever we’re both online, just send a challenge happy.png

If for coaches out there, my main problems are lack of opening theory knowledge, which I’ve survived without, but feel I need to work on in order to push further. I don’t really have a fixed repertoire and play all sorts of different openings. I also need to work on time management and making good practical choices, in which my blitz and bullet play probably isn’t helping…

imo my tactics are decent enough for the time being and I can spot most well enough, and my positional sense is okay, but that’s not up to me to judge. Longer time controls will probably do me some good too as I‘ve played very minimal amounts of games longer than 10|0 other than in tournaments. If anyone would like to be a training partner around my level with me and play some longer time controls that would be great too.

continue with your first coach obvi -_-

not a great idea, I feel I’ve learned as much as I can from him, he doesn’t have muchtime to coach privately as I was in group lessons and couldn’t really focus on me. I could say quite confidently that I’m stronger, and actually sometimes almost coached in the group lessons too lol. I’m looking for a higher-level coach who could really push my game up.

Looks like you might want to locate a NM/CM level coach who isn’t charging high prices like other masters but still can give you plenty of training and experiences to learn from. Usually you can find these coaches for $20-30/hr, or sometimes $15/hr if they live in a lower cost of living area in the world or offer bulk discounts. There are coaching profiles on this site and others you can peruse. Hope you find a great coach and have fun getting to that next level in chess!

I think puzzles and drills are different than lessons that can go in more depth with different aspects of the game, which you need in rapid, just my amateur opinion.

Let's play a 20+10 or 30+10 game and then analyze it grin.png

Feel free to message me; I have a suggestion regarding coaching that might help you achieve your goals (though I know you are rated much higher than me, I still think it could possibly help you).

Nice. I have to take advantage because I only have 8 days of premium left. I've been playing and analyzing like crazy.
