I cannot understand the concept of chess course. To me, the drills and the chess lessons are enough to improve your rating.

why are the course $50 and $200 with videos? What is the point of the video? Is it justified to pay 4 times the amount?

Thanks for any clarifications.

What is being taught in the course? How long is it? Is it helping you at all?

Hi, in my experience, the usefulness of a chess course depends a lot on the content and on the author. For example, opening courses are very popular, but the problem is that you might invest too much time in them and then forget about other important areas of your play.

About the price difference between video and non‑video courses, I also don’t fully understand why it’s so big. Maybe the video format gives some people the feeling of being “in front of the coach,” but the real value depends on what the student feels they need and how they prefer to learn.
