Pawn Promotion and Chess Principles

I am your local Aussie Coach. Anyways today we are learning about some chess fundemental lessons.

In this position, H7 pawn can go to H8 and promote. You can promote to 4 different pieces. Queen,ROOK,Bishop and Knight. The Queen is the most valuable piece you can promote a pawn to. And pawn promotion is only for pawns.

Chess principles

Castling

That is castling. You can castle in Kingside Or Queenside. you must NOT move your king or rook. And you can't castle if an opponent's piece is taking that square.

Control the center

E4 or D4 are control the center moves and control the center must be for starting.

Develop minor pieces

That is Developing minor pieces.
