I can’t seem to break 1000 in Rapid.

What could be the issue? I’m pretty new to chess.

I started chess the same time you did , and what helped me to get to 1000 very quickly was just keep playing lots of games until you notice you start making one move blunders less often. Continue doing around 30 minutes of puzzles a day and learn some chess principles for the opening , middlegame and endgame. Once you reach 1000 to progress from their try learning at least one new chess concept a day. The youtuber hanging pawns has a YouTube playlist with 50 middlegame videos all on different concepts.

Bobby Fischer said tactics flow from a superior position. You may want to work on your positional play and understanding more. In a position where you have an advantage, it will be much easier to execute tactics. Even though people say chess is 99% tactics it helps to really understand the position and to be able to create fundamentally sound plans. I think really this is the greatest weakness of players under 1200 other than simple tactical blunders.

basics: correct development, king protection, improving and building up position,  covering weak points, exploiting opponent weak points, controlling lines, diagonals, squares, etc etc.

if tactics are just enough, we would still play like Morphy.

glad to hear you prefer rapid.

Nothing is wrong. Having a puzzle rating a thousand points above your playing rating isn't unusual. And there is nothing wrong with 900 for a beginner.
