A pond is a small body of water . . .

A PAWN that gets to the other side can be changed to a Queen, Rook, Bishop or  knight.

Because that is one of the chess rules. . .

Play the game to mate the king. DON'T lose games on time. Make moves. . . .

You're losing to many games with few moves . . .

In all fairness, I suspect my written French would cause many a Frenchman to laugh out loud. But if we don't make fun of people, how can we call ourselves chess players?

I have mastered written French!

1.e4 e6!!! (Triple Exclam!)

Hey, maybe you should expand on your French!  Thinly slice potatoes shoestring style and stick them in a deep fryer, and then take thickly sliced bread, dip it in egg, put it on the frying pan, and cook each side for 2 to 3 minutes!

Now you have mastered all there is to know about French!  LOL!
