I'm pretty sure that you'll lose your money.
You paid a fee for a service, that contract is being honoured in good faith, by Chess.com.
On what grounds do you expect a pro-rata refund?

I think that you will still have to pay for the month/year, but not any months/years afterward. I am not sure of that however, since I haven't canceled my gold membership.
hmmm ... maybe transition to a lesser membership ???
You may have discovered that you are a better chess player than you realize and that you do not need most of the tutorials or mentorships that are provided with a Diamond membership. That's great !! Good for you.
However, even in my own experiences I have found that not having a membership is a handicap ... I once owned the $4.99 membership and I absolutely LOVED the stats graph and opponent stats ... you can watch your improvement or decline on a day to day basis, and then get a monthly snap-shot or a yearly shot to see your long term development. I found this feature very helpful as well as the opponent's stats that shows you your record against individual opponents ... I use to open a new tab to check this stat out and then by knowing what my record was against an opponent, I would decide: Will I play cautiosly?? Or absolutely just Blitz this puppy without fear ?? Contrarywise, if I had a really bad losing streak against an opponent, I would play absolutely cautiously and more meticulously and not take such daring risks, or gambits.
Give it a try ... not to mention you won't have to see all the ad pop ups, which was discussed in another blog and in one that I also participated in with a comment; I pretty much said the same thing:
$4.99 is a steal for the personal stats, opponent stats and no ad pop ups ... I myself am looking forward to resuming my membership on chess.com ... it's just that now, with Halloween approaching, I have to make my purchases large for upcoming special effect-projects I'm working on ... I did the same splurging on the Fourth of July and have some finished work posted, but I'm planning on expanding creations and going big but ... that's for another discussion.
Good luck with your membership ... if you decide not to get one, you should still make an appearance here ... this site is always improving and getting better ... and you won't want to miss out !!
Take care !! Peace.

I have a diamond member ship and want to cancel it. What will happen about my fee? Can I get back my fee?
