HELP! Screen too LARGE!!

Sort:
kingneon

My screen chess board in Chess Mentor is enormous,(far too large to play), and I cannot figure out how to reduce its size.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You can go to your Chess Mentor settings:

http://www.chess.com/chessmentor/settings

Change the board to your preferred size here :)

Blackenne,  Thanks, but I tried changing the board size settings to "tiny," but nothing changed.  Actually, all pages on my screen when I am on Chess.com are too large,(not just tactics trainer).

Also, Tactics Trainer, Chess Mentor & Online Chess have their own board sizes so you'll want to make sure you've changed the settings for each.

Blackenne,

I did everything you said and things are still not right:

1. Board size still too big.

2. When I make a move, pieces bounce back and forth before they accept the move. Sometimes making a fast move is impossible because I have to click on the piece several times before it accepts the move, this loses me time.

3. Often receive a pop-up on screen saying 'connection interrupted' and the connection is never connected again. Games times out and I lose, (even when it was my opponent's play and his clock was clicking away). This happens even when both players have a full green signal connection.

4. After the conclusion of a game a pop-up used to appear on top of the game board stating who won and why and the new rating, this no longer occurs.

Is there a icon to change the size on the lower right of the window. Some computers allow you the ability to do that if your able to us Internet Explorer.

RonaldJosephCote

Sounds like a setting in your  fonts  size.   Was it ever OK ??

royalbishop

He posted he had multiple issues.

RonaldJosephCote

multiple issues doesn't sound good. I smell virus.  Oh no; I 've got 47 anti-malware programs. It has to be chess.com's fault.

kingneon

There's no icon on the lower right of the screen, so that's out.

I did a complete scan on my PC and had no viruses.

i seem to recall, however, that once in a while under my cursor appears a small spiral symbol and when I move my cursor my page size either gets larger or smaller. I've tried to recall that symbol to move my cursor counterclockwise and hopefully reduce the scree size, but I don't have a clue as to how to bring it back onto the screen? GRrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

I know little about these boxes, but I think you can find it in, control panel; "user settings".

Don't ask me how or why, (because I didn't do anything), but all my pages have been reduced to my chess.com setting size.  Thanks for all the input. I still don't know how to solve the problem if it happens again.  I'll try Mr. Cote's suggestion above.

royalbishop

Does this only happen at chess.com? Where did you first have this problem?

Check for updates for your computer.

Already try this: hold ctrl key and press - or +   several times or hold ctrl key and scroll your mouse down or up. Hope it helpful.

Would test it myself..... if it is not broke do not try to fix it.

If you have this problem again, look in the right-hand upper corner of your internet page. If there is a magnifying glass with a + on it, click on that, and it will return to normal size.

royalbishop

He already established he has no options in the corners. Getting control of this sounds tough. Must be some way for counter play against this screen situation.

Oh. OK.

This is quite the interesting problem.

Alternatively I think you could create a new account Cool
