I'm wondering how this "20 hours" game was done. Like, intervals and stuff. Coz I don't believe they did that in one seat.

I've played in a chess club where time control was 90 minutes for 40 moves + 60 minutes.
I know from books that games can be 6 hours on the clock.
Why is there no official time control?
