What is Black's best response if White moves their bishop to b5 on the second move

Thanks, almost 6 years later and someone finally caught it! Well done my friend!

To come back to your original question:
1.e4 e5
2.Bb5 a6 (this should kick the bishop away)
If you don't follow up with a6, you have to deal with the pinned d7 pawn which is gonna be a weakness in the development for black. I can't come up with a really good answer to the pinned pawn, because for one, Bb5 is considered a tempo loss and second I'm not experienced enough to give you a deep analysis of some possible move orders.

Why though?

@GerritSonntag Why did you commit thread necromancy?

I ran into 2.Bb5 after 1.e4 c5 today and I was wondering what would be a reasonable response.

Since I’m nowhere close to be experienced enough with the Sicilian defense, I had to look something up. ;)

cheers

I have learned that a6 is the move here.
