What are some good ways for Black to really punish White, who likes to weild his Queen (and Bishops too) early, with gusto, going for an early mate?

This person is around my level I guess (1300-1400 turn-based), but he is very dangerous (to me anyway) with the Queen (and sometimes Bishops added in) early and has put me in danger of being mated early. I'd like to at least defend, but punsh would be better.

Thanks.

Its all about following the opening principles:

Control the center

Develop towards the center

Castle

Connect your rooks

Psychology is really important in chess. Fischer said that, because almost all players said that they lost game because of psychology(to hide the fact they are not enough strong players to beat him.). Fischer believed in psychology. He said about his opponents: ,,I like to see their ego is crushing''.

"I don't believe in psychology, I believe in good moves"

Probably most famous Fischer quote.

People said Lasker used psychology, turns out Lasker was just better.

People said Fischer was a technician / endgame virtuoso.

Thanks. Some great posts here. I spewed coffee all over my keyboard when I read some of the annotations "OH NO! The dreaded parham.

I'm chicken no more and can sleep at night without being scared of this monster (my old friend).

I'm not going to give you any real ideas for this position....go play better chess than him and you will win! ;)

Due respect, but your remarks don't come close to answering the OP. They can be applied to practically any question about position or improvement. How do I beat a grandmaster? Just play well. Why, thanks! I hadn't thought of that.

He was asking how to beat a scholar's mate. Good thing Sinchean dropped by.

So we have people saying play 4...Nc6 and others satubg play 4...c6. It's late, and I'm a little fuzzy as to the pros and cons of each of those two moves. There is already not going to be a Scholar's Mate after playing 4.Nf6, because the f7 square is blocked. Why 4...c6 and why not 4...Nc6 (see first page diagram). Why not 4....Bg4 (again, a diagram on first page)?

Chicken monster, I guess, I can answer you properly.

So, you should play better to punishing your opponent with early attack with no good preparation.

How?

Playing better than him. That means domain the center. Develop your pieces. Prepare well your attack and counter attack. That's is the receipt against weird openings or moves precipitated.

It's there a wonderful video about weird openings, but is in Portuguese. Maybe you can put to generate subtitles in English.

Aberturas estranhas = weird openings
