A warning for Barcza players.

I've noticed a lot of posts suggesting the Barcza as a different and good way to play for white and it is. But and I could be incorrect no one has yet mentioned what barcaza players should do against a dragon set-up.

You can play c4 or e4 here transposing to english or sicilian.  what other (good) options does white have?

The point of the Barcza is to obtain the e4-e5 option. At this point, white should play d3, Nbd2, Re1 and then push e4 regardless of what black does. The barcza is a modern opening that controls the center from afar with pieces, not occupying it with pawns. White will try to get black to overextend in the center then create a pawn break that is favorable.

I prefer to play 4. c4 here and transpose to a symmetrical english. The english opening has been favored by many famous players including current World Champion Vladimir Kramnik, Botvinnik, and Karpov. It is very solid opening for white where he will slowly press for small advantages and try to convert those tiny advantages throughout the middle and end game for the victory.

I like the English too. I guess the point is that from here white has a lot more options than the poster would lead you to believe. White can transpose to the KIA, Reti etc.

Good chessdweeb!  White can also still play a kings indian attack. so lets say white does that, and black wants to stay with a dragon.
