I really want to start playing the rousseau gambit, but won't do it until I have at least a complete repertoire for dealing with the less popular lines white plays but that would vex half of my games without homework on those too, falling for every trap every opponent knows.
I'm liking ...f5 systems (NOT the latvian!!!) for their OTB stats, more exciting than scandinavian games potential and quicker wins even, and that they'll really mesh with my king's gambit ideas as well as influence my king's gambit games back too maybe.
it's really hard finding aggressive lines against 2.d4. 2...exd5, the von der Lasa Gambit is more popular, but the 2...Nc6 Nimzo Kennedy scores better and develops a piece. i tend to not do so well in lines based on early Nc3/6 even when they score better eg. Nc3 in the blackmar diemer gambit. i score better going straight to f3 (the gedult). I really like quick knight to f bishop to c lines with swift attacks on my opponents' f pawns.
1.e4 e5 2.d4
2...Nc6 Nimzo Kennedy
2...exd4 with LOUSY 53:43 wins stats in 14m games despite being =
what do you have people? gambits, aggression, ...f5 lines, double edged no more boring games that last 50 moves kinda stuff. i almost prefer losing in 20 to winning in 50. i want lines that get right to the point and try to use the initiative and/or development asap and if the castle comes with 100 traps, so much the better.
simplicity and "same formation more often than not" lines are always nice too. If I remember right, whatever leads to the scotch game, steinitz might be what i'm looking to play.
this is what I was looking at after:
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6
3.Nc3 f5 Three Knight Winawer
3.c3 f5 Ponziani Counter Gambit
3.d4 exd4 Scotch Game
4.Nxd4 Qh4 Steinitz Variation 43:52@137k +0.6
5.Nc3 Bb4 Modern Defense 44:52@58k +0.9
5.Nxc6? Qxe4+ 38:55@39k -0.8
5.Qd3 Nf6 =
4.Bc4 Nf6 Scotch Gambit Dubois Réti Defense 50:45@482k -0.1
5.e5 Advance Variation
5.0-0
5.Nxd4
5.Ng5* Perreux Variation
4.c3 Goring Gambit
4…Nf6 5.e5 Ne4 is very double edged
4…d5 “Modern” Wyoming chess theory
5. e5 dxc3 6.Nxc3 d4 7.Nb5 Bc5 -/+
5. exd5 Qxd5 6.cxd4 Bb4+ 7.Nc3 Bg4 8.Be2 Bxf3 9.Bxf3 Qc4
transposing into those lines would simplify things
