Russia is the equivalent of the KG in chess terms.

You must not study openings much.

The KG has been played by some of the best players in history with devastating results.

Bobby Fischer lost to the gambit by playing Boris Spassky.

I busted the P.

He didn't bust anything.

He only wrote that article after he lost to the King's Gambit.

Fischer himself played it with great success.

If fischer says it's busted, that's good enough for me.

Fishcer tried out 3 games with it but still agreed it was busted.

Who cares what Fischer thinks.

The KG has been played by GM's and IM's for the past fifty years with great success.

There is no support for Fischer's conclusion that the KG is busted.

vastly more people than care what Vereslov thinks.  In fact, I think there is only 1 person on chess.com who cares what Vereslov thinks and that ios Vereslov.

Don't get your panties in a bunch.

Fischer claimed the King's Gambit is busted.

Where is the evidence? GM's have been playing this gambit for the past fifty years in high level tournaments with great success.

Fischer got arrogant because he lost to Spassky via KG.

There is no evidence to support KG is busted.

You know, Fischer didn't play the parham, so I don't think he was a good enough player to comment on the KG Laughing.

Fischer's bust is of purely historical interest. In his article he didn't deal at all with the current mainline 4.d4 g5 5.h4 g4 6.Ng1!

Black neeedn't be worse, but his position isn't easy to play. A ton of theory here, so mentioning variations has no meaning.

And MSC, the mainline is: 1. e4 e5 2. Qh5 Nc6 3. Bc4 g6 4. Qf3 Nf6 5. Ne2. Black can do many different moves after that, how would you bust that.

No he said 2...Nc6, what you have shown above is the kiddie countergambit, which is even worse for black.

Na5, goodbye bishop.

Well it hangs the e5 pawn...

And I can play d3, covering the Bishop, and threatening to pin the f6 knight.

Avatar of MSC157

So what? Bg7 and then quite early h6.

Rybka and Fritz both claim the position is even.

Yereslov, engine says it's +1,00 for someone too, but positionaly... They're dumb in openings.

They can't plan or evaluate positional weaknesses like human masters can. Computers are much better at calculating.

Avatar of The_Gavinator

Agreed, engines aren't much use for positions, they are better at playing.
