Nice. We see a very diverse openings. Certainly there will be a surprise. Whoever win the 1st game has the control over the rest. Both will not want to lose their 1st game. I predict the 1st 14 moves will take 1 hr.

I think, and hope, that we will see the ruy lopez discussed this WC. Therefor alot of e4 e5. Carlsen might spring off a ponziani or something, but he'll wait a few games. I think the first game is going to be a 4. d3 berlin.

Why?
1. Carlsen is White and he tends to play Ruy Lopez.

3. The opening is offbeat and somewhat unexpected, though it is not too hard to learn.
4. Of course, Anand could avoid this in a number of ways, such as by playing the Sicilian. However, Anand would probably want to draw early on, and possibly entering an Open Sicilian is not a typical way for an easy draw.
Looks like it would be an opening that matches Carlsen's style. :)
My second guess would be the Rossolimo/Moscow Sicilian.
k, the title should spell Carlsen - Anand. I don't know how to correct this. Let's just pretend it's Carlsen - Anand.

If I am not mistaken, Berlin Defense is 1. e4 e5. 2 Bc4 Nf6. Nice, mate. Seldom see it in play.
I expect some unfashionable (at WC level) openings to get a look in.
Anand White: QGA
Carlsen White: French defense
Anand almost never plays the French. He also plays e4 a lot more than d4.
Yeah, but I think both are going to play stuff their opponentr won't expect.
