Will be a gruenfeld.
Anand - Carlsen. Vote for opening: Game 1.

I could see Magnus pulling an unusual opening out of the storage cellar and dusting it off and shocking the world. Something like 1. b3!! Larsens opening. He would be the type to do it.

Nice. We see a very diverse openings. Certainly there will be a surprise. Whoever win the 1st game has the control over the rest. Both will not want to lose their 1st game. I predict the 1st 14 moves will take 1 hr.
Tally updated.

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 d5...Semi Slav
1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nc3 Nf6...Semi Slav
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6...Ruy Lopez
1. Nf3 d5 2. g3 Nf6 3. Bg2 c6...Reti
1. d4 d5 2. Bg5 h6 3. Bh4 c6...Hodgson Attack
1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. exd5 cxd5...Caro Kann
and other opening!
Pls make up your mind. This is no vote. At most 2 openings. If 1 of them is correct, I give you half the trophy.

I say it's a Sveshnikov and Carlsen gets blown away. Anand 1 - Carlsen 0
Just to make sure this Sicilian Sveshnikov. k, your vote is in.

I decide to give whoever vote the right answer a pizza trophy. Complimentary from me. Bean_Fischer
this is a great idea for a competition guessing the moves, then eliminating the wrong guessers etc
lol +1. there will be winners. They will surprise us. Or rather they will surprise the opponent.

I think, and hope, that we will see the ruy lopez discussed this WC. Therefor alot of e4 e5. Carlsen might spring off a ponziani or something, but he'll wait a few games. I think the first game is going to be a 4. d3 berlin.

k, your vote is ruy lopez with 4. d3 Berlin variation.

Anand has black in game 1.
Well then, I guess the OP really f'ed up that one. According to the title, Carlsen is listed as Black. I retract my Sveshnikov prediction and say 4.d3 against the Berlin.

Ruy Lopez Worrall Attack.
Why?
1. Carlsen is White and he tends to play Ruy Lopez.
2. The opening is theoretically sound. http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessopening?eco=c86
3. The opening is offbeat and somewhat unexpected, though it is not too hard to learn.
4. Of course, Anand could avoid this in a number of ways, such as by playing the Sicilian. However, Anand would probably want to draw early on, and possibly entering an Open Sicilian is not a typical way for an easy draw.
Looks like it would be an opening that matches Carlsen's style. :)
My second guess would be the Rossolimo/Moscow Sicilian.

k, the title should spell Carlsen - Anand. I don't know how to correct this. Let's just pretend it's Carlsen - Anand.

If I am not mistaken, Berlin Defense is 1. e4 e5. 2 Bc4 Nf6. Nice, mate. Seldom see it in play.
I expect some unfashionable (at WC level) openings to get a look in.
Anand White: QGA
Carlsen White: French defense
Anand almost never plays the French. He also plays e4 a lot more than d4.
Yeah, but I think both are going to play stuff their opponentr won't expect.
