Traxlar gambit and blackburne Shilling gambit are the only way to crush the fried liver attack

Sololevelingsirjohn

very easy to counter, but devastating if you are moving in a fast game and overlook it... So many have learned a lot of traps due to streamers. The people who win this way generally act like their real pro when in reality are just copying traps and arnt all that great, but are simply just taking advantage of a quick time format and also they generally won't rematch either....Toxic chess...

Wrong! Best way is to avoid the Fried Liver all together.

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5?! (4.d3 or 4.d4 are stronger) d5 5.exd5 and now, DO NOT EVEN ALLOW THE FRIED LIVER, which is 5...Nxd5?? 6.Nxf7!!. Instead, 5...Na5!! and Black has fully equalized in only 5 moves! Put 4.Ng5 to bed once and for all by not allowing the Fried Liver attack!

you just took the traxlar, and played a horrible line, go get a life and actually like don't copy.

Compadre_J

I had to look up the line you’re playing because I have never heard or even seen anyone play 2…Bc5.

- The Busch-Gass Gambit is the name

You don’t have to worry about the Fried Liver Attack beating you because you’re already losing.

To reach the Fried Liver, it takes 6 moves.

You are losing on move 3.

You play c6, but who really cares?

I will move my Knight back and I will not even put my Light Square Bishop on c4 because I am already winning.

My Bishop on e2!

What will you do?

You should reconsider your opening approach!

5...b5 and 5...Nd4 are equalizers as well.

This is basically a trap,ur luring people into thinking ur some sort of a 100 elo and think they are winning
adijayajmanj
I mean this is only for people under 1000 elo who love Italian game
ShreeHariharanDubai

adijayajmanj

Man, I might sound super arrogant, but there are so many stupid takes on this thread. xD

First, OP that's not a Fried Liver line, but an Traxler line. The Fried liver is 1- e4, e5. 2- Nf3, Nc6. 3- Bc4, Nf6. 4- Ng5, d5. 5- exd5, Nxd5. 6- Nxf7, Kxf7. 7- Qf3+, Ke6.

Only this specific move order is the Fried Liver.

1- e4, e5. 2- Nf3, Nc6. 3- Bc4, Nf6. 4- Ng5 IS NOT the Fried Liver, but just an 4 knights variation of the Italian game. I think the official name is something lame like "knight attack", but is sometimes called the "duffer move", because Tarrasch called this move of something to that effect.

Now, the user ThrillerFan described the Polerio Defense, which is indeed considered the best move sequence for black, but I must say that a lot of people even at my elo range don't know the theory of that move after 5-... Na5. 6-Bb5+, c6. 7-dxc6, bxc6. 8-Be2. A decent amount of people don't know how to proceed from this position as black, even at my elo.

Honestly, if you are 1000 rated or under, I would strongly suggest to not play the four knights and instead play 3. Bc4 Bc5 for black and avoid those complications.
