D4 Is The Best Possible Move White Could Ever Make In My Opinion.

Based On Logic, I do not think D4 is beatable in the sense that, Black needs to equalize not rush in trying to attack White when its already at a big disadvantage, Houdini3 Agrees with me on that, Come back when you have beaten Houdini3 :P - Hehe - Laters!

(Nf6 on D4 works)

Sorry to say that nobody cares about what Houdini is "thinking" about openings.

This is precisely the reason engine opening books were made: An engine's play in the opening is rather poor, and solely based on tactic cheapos instead of concrete strategic plans.

Hehe, I bet Houdini's " tactic cheapos" could easily munt your "concrete strategic plans."   Point is: Thanks for the post, but I still don't really see why you posted? Point is? I'm missing the point of your post?

dear riding grounds.

Of course d4 is beatable unless it is houdini thats playing it.

a 1/2 move tempo is not a big disadvantage.

and yeah nobody cares about waht houdini thinks.

here are a few points

->1.d4 is better than 1.e4 on all engines solely because of sicilian.

->Give respect it is an IM you are talking to.

->What he said was right. The only reason houdini wins is because no games are won in the opening(usually)

the ones that are lost by humans without the computing power of computers.

Here is how engines basically think.

->Is there a threat?

If no make one

If yes then defend it while making one(or something as close to one as possible)

the threats can be from attacking a hanging piece to mate.

The point of my post is that you don't know shit about the way engines are working. Wasn't that clear enough? If not, then I'm terrbly sorry.

This looks like a good set of suggestions.  After reviewing Sierawan's video on busting the Budapest, I have to think these are the non-KID ways to go.

Hello all,

What is an attacking line for black against 1.d4? It should be stable cause I'm a real attacking player.

You have already mixed two things which do not come together.

After having read McDonald's book on the Dutch, I think this remark is absolutely true.  In fact, McDonald tells a funny anecdote about a player who didn't take to heart the fact that reducing draws means increasing BOTH the opportunity for winning and the risk of defeat.  One play said something like, oh! I have been devasted by loss, to which the opponent said, but think of all the draws you've avoided!  Strewth.

Its very true in my experience .  If you play sharp chess your percentage of wins and losses tend to go up while the % of draws go down . I play both the french and sicilian(s) against 1 e4 .  When I play the french I dont win as much nor lose as much as when I choose sicilian but the # of draws increase . In the sicilians I have more wins and losses but fewer draws .

The tarrasch provides easy development and therefore good attacking chances in exchange for an isolated queens pawn

You should model yourself after other attacking players: check what Kasparov, Fischer, Tal played. KID, Tarrasch, Benoni.

I have had some great attacking games with the Tarrasch--including my first win against a titled player. I quite enjoy facing d4 usually.

I'm using the QGA. Not much luck against 3.Nf3 though.

Didn't anyone even check that the thread is nearly two years old? Laughing Anyway thanks for all the advice, I have switched to the dutch....
