I'm not sure if many people know this opening but it goes:
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.a3
Does anyone know why this opening is unnamed in the chess.com analysis board?
Because you have not reached any defined opening. 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 has no name either, but chess.com often throws in bulls**t names early on. From this position:
3.Nc3 Bb4 is the Nimzo-Indian
3.Nc3 c5 4.d5 is the modern Benoni
3.Nc3 d5 is the Queen's Gambit Declined
3.Nf3 b6 is the Queen's Indian
3.Nf3 c5 4.d5 is the Modern Benoni
3.Nf3 Bb4+ is the Bogo-Indian
3.Nf3 d5 is the Queen's Gambit Declined
3.g3 c5 is the Fianchetto Benoni
3.g3 d5 is the Catalan.
3.a3 is too early to determine. For example, 3...b6 would lead to Queen's Indian positions. 3...d5 would be a QGD. In the latter case, White's third move is ridiculous, hence why not played at the top level. If 3.b6 4.Nf3, you transpose to the Petrosian Variation of the QID - 3.Nf3 b6 4.a3.
