Avoiding four knights

Hi,

I'm an Alekhine player and I'm trying to adopt the repertoire advocated by Tim Taylor in his book.

The thing is he says that you should play

e4-Nf6
Nc3-e5

Here most people play Nf3 and then I usually play Nc6 getting into the boring four knight's game. A friend of mine told me that maybe I should try Bb4 instead, I don't know what this variation is called but perhaps it's most commonly reached from the Petroff?

Could anyone tell me about this problem in general, just a few tips would be fine.

I have Nigel Davies' nice book on e4-e5 but he doesn't talk about this Bb4 move at all.

Thanks for your help.

My book told me that d5 is bad and I believe it sort of.

After
3. e5-d4
4. exf6-dxc3
5. fxg7-cxd2

My kingside is ugly. Jonny Hector always plays Nc3 and has a great record whenever black plays d5.

Í bókinni "Starting out - the Alekhine's defense" mælir John Cox með 2...e5 en hann fjallar ekki um það afbrigði í bókinni. Það gæti vel verið best fyrir þig að leika 2...e5 og finna þér eitthvað skemmtilegt afbrigði í Vínarleiknum eða fjögurra riddara taflinu, t.d.:

Annars er Aljekínsvörnin langt utan míns áhugasviðs svo ég get eiginlega ekki stungið upp á neinu sjálfur hvað það varðar en ef ég fæ fjögurra riddara taflið með svart leik ég 4...Nd4!?
