Any of y’all play Bird’s Opening Dutch Variation?

I sometimes do, once in a blue moon though.

I have been trying the Dutch so far and I have to agree with Sea Turtle. I don't remember a single game where I was relaxed and I had to pay double attention compared to other setups even with material advantage.

But I don't know the plans and theory well so there is that. I still have faith in it.

Bill Cipher’s final words reversed, I see you’ve done some digging.

Generally I play D5 or Nf3 and then pray while remembering to make pretty passive moves, but it might be a good idea to learn the Dutch because then you play the match on your terms

MabelFromGravityFalls

Is bro trying to shame the Dutch?

DwayneJohnson42069

I try to play into indian games, my favourite opening is nimzo Indian samicsh

Rimuru

@randomchessguy52 It is basically fool's mate. I can't believe someone would fall for it.

DipperFromGravityFalls

Idk why black advanced the pawns so much.

Yes I mean Nf6 oops

Take a look at this defence.
The Semi Slav conversion into Grunfeld-Burille variation.
The idea is to castle as quickly as possible cutting off all attacks on your Queen’s side with your opponents knight and bishop. Once you have castled, you convert the opening from Semi Slav to Grunfeld Burille variation.
Most chess players will go for the exchange early on your D pawn which doesn’t allow the conversion as it should but the position still plays well.

pleewo

Kings Indian is top tier, not in my repertoire but it’s awesome.
Nimzo is also top tier, extremely flexible and you get to pair it with another opening which is awesome if you love learning openings ❤️

Slav and Semi Slav are also great choices, Chebanenko Slav is fine too but not as good as the first too imo and also objectively. But still perfectly fine.

Tarrasch is good, it’s quite dynamic. Semi Tarrasch is also nice. I will probably learn semi Tarrasch at some point.
QGA is ambitious, not really my speed but all QGA players are chads so go ahead if you want fr.

QGD is awesome but I recommend playing it from either the nimzo or the be7 move order. The Grunfeld is one of the harder openings to learn but still very good and dynamic.
Ragozin is awesome and underrated, it’s perfectly sound and solid.

The Vienna is good and aggressive in nature. Good to play for a win. ( So is KID )

Bogo Indian is good, QID is also very good.

In general I would play nimzo and pair it with either Ragozin or normal QGD for solidness, Vienna for aggressiveness and maybe semi Tarrasch.

Sea_TurtIe

kid? really?

sad how the computer butchered the sick Nc6 lines and the epic attacks you got out of it

nimzo is good but you gotta deal with catalan or know your bogo theory

Fivesecondsmate

D4 is so passive, and I don't like it so much. I usually respond with D5

It actually lead to a wide variety of strategic positions.

I’ve been playing the Dutch recently and I find it to be almost as good as the Sicilian.

True but I'm losing my success with dutch. Which dutch do you learn?

if i had to recommend a person the dutch i would recommend the classical dutch, the stonewall and leningrad dutch are near refutable if white knows what hes doing, same with this but but its much easier to play, you usually want a setup like this

What an asinine statement.

The Stonewall Dutch is nowhere near reputable. With correct play by Black, it draws just like the QGD, Nimzo, Grunfeld, and Slav do.
