Ok this is one of the most obvious ones it’s the najdorf

Nimzo-Indian for me. Najdorf has very hard middlegames to play after it so I wouldn’t recommend it personally

Nimzo did so much for this game

I am more familiar with the green Chess Digest book from the 90s written by inmate Claude F Bloodgood whom they stripped of I think it was the Number 2 rating because the VAPEN (Virginia Penatentiary) Chess Club manipulated the rating system, using the floors to their advantage, which is easy to do. I am not sure if this is what they did, but this would work even between just 2 people:

You play me and lose repeatedly until I reach 1800. I now have a floor of 1600. I now purposely lose to you until you hit 1900, giving you a floor of 1700. I, now at my floor of 1600, beat you repeatedly until I get to 2000, with a floor of 1800. Then you win until you go from 1700 to 2100, then me 1800 to 2200, then you 1900 to 2300, then me 2000 to 2400, then you 2100 to 2400. The highest floor is 2200 in USCF. So here we both are ar 2200 minimum through total manipulation. The VAPEN Chess club manipulated it somehow - maybe not exactly via my demonstration, and Claude, the mastermind of it all, became like, 2600+.

How does that happen?

Now? It probably doesn't because the USCF is aware of such activity. But this guy was in prison from the late 1960s all the way to death, which I believe was 2001. The 70s are vastly different than the 20s.

I believe what happened was that one inmate would play a bunch of the other inmates who would purposely lose in order to give the one inmate a high rating. Bloodgood would then play with that inmate multiple times to gain ELO.

But I’m pretty sure the Norfolk gambit isn’t better than the najdorf or nimzo Indian

Nakhmanson Gambit:

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Bc4 Nf6 5. 0-0 Nxe4 6. Nc3

You sacrifice a whole knight, but the position is still almost equal because you have a crazy attack
