Bird main ideas

Hello Brid players! I'm interested in this opening, I've been playing it lately this game is one I lost in time, (at the end I had 4 point up material however was fast chess game)

But the point is: what do you play on firsts moves?
And what are main ideas on Bird opening?

Sorry to say that but if this is your level of play you really shouldn't care about openings. You need to get the basics straight first. By move 10, black should have been up 2 pieces.

I'm sorry, where the instructive partis? Regardless the criticism about a lighting game of a low rated player, is there anything in that response that has to do with the questions

1- what do you play on firsts moves?
2- and what are main ideas on Bird opening?

I think the first big mistake you made while being the white player was at step 10 when both queens were in the same line you should have killed the opponent's queen with the horse (therefore forcing your opponent to do the same or risk losing a great advantage at the beginning of the game) because if you would have done so you have taken a Queen and a Rook in exchange for a Horse while the black player only would have gotten your Queen.

Berry, I play Bird's Opening.  Your attempt was a mix of like 3 different Bird's Opening ideas.  Let me give you a more solid way to play the opening, based on the opening moves here.

I don't think there is much reason to go farther into this. I have a great idea for you though - come check out my group, Bird's Opening Lovers, at http://www.chess.com/groups/home/birds-opening-lovers.  We are a very strong group on chess.com that is dedicated to learning how to play 1.f4.  I hope this helps!

When black plays ..e6 in the Bird youre going to want to fianchetto your dark squared bishop. As far as general plans go you're wanting to get a good grip on the e5 square. A well supported knight can head a strong attack. Notice this Fischer game where he finds a way to transpose to a good bird position- enemy is not fianchettoed, c6 knight was traded off, our knight is on e5 and well supported, pieces are ready to jump to the Kside.

The Stonewall recommendation above is solid as well.

One interesting theme that works with what Bond mentioned (and I failed to even touch) is 3. b3.  This gives you the option to delay e3 in favor of the very interesting g3!? double fianchetto Bird.

Thanks BirdBrian! You were right on the money!

Thanks LevyCM! I think my mistake was to post the game! Because I wasn't trying to analyze my game (otherwise I guess there's another forum for that), but to show how I see at this point Bird, and I'm looking for sounder first steps in the opening.

(sadly there are people who think that If you are not enough ranked you don't even should ask)

And yes, you're clearly right, because after taking black queen with knight, white should take my queen with rook, but I still can take the rook on the backrank. It was a lighting game so there's no much time to think.

I love the bird, been my main choice since I started chess 4 years ago

In regards to the game, didnt see it mentioned, but when you play g3 you should stick with the bishop on g2 in general.

Have you ever watched GM Henrik Danielsens youtube videos? He has around a hundred 3 minute games where he plays Birds Opening (Or polar bear as he calls it) And the dutch leningrad (same system just for black)

Notice how you placed all your pawns on dark squares, then you traded off your queen and light squared bishop.

Black should have had an easy game

Find food, eat it, beware of bigger bird.
