Hello, It looks like this opening is good, I have some question in the game,

but - mainly - is e4 e5 bc4 nf6 d3 good?

It's a great way to get out of opening theory (safely) and just play chess.

Here's what happened last time I used it (against someone who soon became #1 on the site!)

what you are playing is simply transposing back into an italian opening, that's all good and well, but if so... then why not simply play Nf3 instead of Bc4?

in the game that ih8sens played you can see his opponent played 3.c6, now, that ruins all of your plans on getting an italian opening like formation, so... if you decide to play Bc4, you might just think of trying to develop normaly, the move you showed above are perfectly good moves, but if your opponent playes a novelty (at least to your knowledge) then you can just go bananas and do whatever you like, going for the formation you stated above as white is very good and well, but consider that black might surprise you, and you will have to think of an original plan, all by yourself, what a big boy you are!
