I am engaged in a game against Mr. Bongcloud currently. What Mr. BC is unaware of is that I have an entire team of NASA scientists working day and night on a defense to the Bongcloud Attack. I'm purposely taking my time with each move because it takes time to crunch all that data - we're analyzing all his games. I'm hoping for a draw.

I think you're confusing Bongcloud with Boungcloud. Ernesto Boungcloud died on New Year's Eve of last year, if you'll read his bio in this thread. Bongcloud will be an easy defeat not worthy of NASA's time. Boungcloud...never mind.

hahaha hooly crap moxin anti-boungcloud was the funniest i ever saw in a long time. damn i was laughin my shoes off

This thread is about Ernesto Boungcloud. Lenny was a hack. But then so was Ernesto.

Well, here's a test game against Stacy which proves the power of the Bongcloud

My brain hurts.

Oh, I think the game presented above fails to do justice to the Boncloud Attack as white. Keeping your king firmly fixed to e2 is no way to play the Bongcloud Attack. It is obvious from the game that a more agile king is the way to do it.

Black's devious Bishop ploy put Lenny off the right track (i.e. storming towards the enemy lines).

Let me explain two things about Boungcloud attack theory:

First of all, if black replies with 1... g5 white does not neccesarily have to reply with 2.Ke2. Indeed, the correct reply is 2.f4!, leaving black no hopes. 2...gxf4?? 3.Kf2! and black loses the advantage of his strong g pawn, and has no way to stop white's king from destroying black. 2...g4 is significantly better, but still loses to 3.Kf2.

Second, when black plays 2...Ba3?! trying to blockade the a pawn, he forgets that pawns can move two squares in their first turn, and is lost after 3.a4!. Black has no way to stop the one pawn pawn breakthrough, especially with the king supporting the pawn. One attempt is 3...Bxb2 4.Ra3! Bxa3 5.Bxa3 and any potential king attack by black is destroyed because of the bishop on a3 stops the king from going to e7 and traps it on the last rank.

I am very greatfull towards all the scholars contributing to the recent theories for the Lenny Bongcloud Attack. Are we all ready for a theme tournament?

Meemo

The Moxin, like many Anti-Boungcloud systems suffers from fatally weakening Black's g7 pawn, so critical in many Bounglound endgames. Personally, I prefer the Mushroom defence, Black keeps his head in the face of the ferocious Ke2 and simply develops his pieces to inactive squares [See game insert]

After 14 ... B7 Black has a plethora of attacking options including Kf8 (The Magic Mushroom Variation) and g4! (The Spore Attack). Qc7 has long been considered unsound.

Instead of 15.Rxb2+, Qb1 is mate! Seems that Boungcloud, does could your thougths!

an interesting variation in the twin mushroom attack is 15.Kd4!! the waiting move.

Just get your king to the other side of the board and he will resign.  The King becomes a devastating force on the back rank and Black will be hoping for a draw.

I am a little worried.  At first I thought that when Deep Blue beat Garry Kasparov that that might have been the end of chess.  I thought that computers would over analyse chess to the point of 1)e4 to play and win.  This did not happen and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Imagine my chagrin at this new threat to chess from Mr. Bongcloud...1)e4...2)Ke2...White to play and win.

I move that we outlaw this system before the future of chess is destroyed.

StacyBearden
You may have a point...but the die has been cast. The Boungcloud is an institution now. The future of chess is definitely at risk. Run while you still can.

I don't get it, what is the possible point of that move? If your opponent simply follows basic development principles they should win with ease.
