an easy to learn opening is the Colle system which for white goes d4 nf3 e3 bd3, for black agaisnt e4 you can play the CarKann which goes 1.e4 c6 d4 d5 against d4 you can play the King's Indian Defence which goes 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 bg7 4. e4 d6

Though I do not recommend people below the rating of 1800 play the colle system as below 1800 games are more often than not won by tactics and you should be playing e4 and going for sharp positions.  I would also recommend e5 as black agaisnt e4 and play for the sharp postions (2 knights defence, Spanish can be played on the black side for life.)  I only recommended those on top because they are pretty easy to get after the first 3 or 4 moves

i see you ask about 4 move checkmates but as strange as it may sound that is something you should avoid. a 4 move checkmate requiires that you must move your queen out very early while your opponent move out bishops and knights. this is not good for you despite the queen beeing the most powerful piece because your opponent will gladly sacrifice a bishop or knight to stop the powerful queen so you will be running for your life with your queen while your opponent gets out more and more pieces. four move checkmates almost only work against people who have never played chess before. playing for that will only give you problems and no benefits.

anyway this is a four move checkmate.

here is even a two move checkmate if you are curious

and this is the kind of thing that happens you try the 4 move checkmate against people who have seen it before which is 99% of chessplayers

just know how to block them and then work from thier dont try to use em they only work on total newbs and those who dont develope thier kingside knight first

Four move checkmates works only on newbies, and only for some time. Just learn how to block them (as presented by tigergutt) and learn some decent openings.

The Kings' gambit was my pet opening since I met the Falkbeer! (2...d5)

If you really have a hankering to pursue a 4 move checkmate, just use a Monkey's Bum type opening, where you have 1.e4 2.Bc4 3.Qf3.  If black doesn't defend f7 somehow, you've got him with Qxf7.

Naturally, he will defend f7 999 times out of 1000.  But that's not necessarily the end of the world for you.

Black will end up playing some combination of Nf6, Nc3, probably Bc5, and maybe d6.  If you play Nge2, Nc3, and d3 in an order that makes sense when you're responding, you've just transposed to a roughly equal line of the Vienna game, and you should have a nice, playable middle game.

its possible to play some 4 move checkmate opening if you play very very precise then you might be able to get a kind of playable endgame where black is a tiny bit better. is that what you want as white? and all the other openings are better so why not choose something else. actually i think  games 4 moves and shorter will not even be registered as a game because its to short but im not 100% sure about that one

thanks everyone for the great suggestions!Smile
