Can someone show me a tricky line in an exchange slav , that I can use against !?

HI there !

I usually play the slav , I like it because it's tricky and I can get hold of a pawn and if white doesn't know what they are doing I'm having that pawn for free. I also play semi-slav occasionally.

BUT I'm having trouble with slav exchange, I just don't know much about it and often getting in trouble , especially against stronger oppositions.

Can you please recommend me some  tricky line in slav exchange  where maybe I gambit a poison pawn or something or just some rare complicated line or something like that unusual, so I can study it well and use it against stronger opposition.

Thank you for your time.

really not that much tricks here. i know kramnik played this ne4 line just to unbalance the pawn structure like a grunfeld.

the e5 line i am not sure is 100% sound.

i think there's more tricks for white here, like the f3 line for example.

you have to understand it's hard to create tactics out of this line if white keeps on playing boring safe stuff.

you can just allow the exchange queen's gambit instead and opt for the 2..e6 move order to reach the semi slav. you'd have to give up the pure slav but in return white can't deaden the positions in the carlsbad pawn structure as it will always be unbalanced.

The problem is I don't play like that, especially d4 d5

What I play is as black of course

D4 Nf6

C4 C6

Nc3 D5

C×D C×D  and I'm in exchange slav territory

If you're playing a stronger player, there are no good "tricks". White has the tempo, but that's about it. You can play symmetrically (look at the usual stuff) and let White be the one to stray off the "boring" path. You have a problem drawing with Black against a stronger player? I don't!

Now, if you're playing a weaker player, "tricky" becomes risky. I wouldn't even play the Slav for this reason and your "Indian"" move order can lead you away from the Slav early anyway (e6/g6/c5 are the main moves with this). But, if you get a true exchange Slav from the weaker player, look into the a6 lines as a way to try and mix things up a bit.

There's some Qb6 and Qxb2 lines you can play. Not really an expert on exactly when the Queen sortie is a viable option and when it isn't (nuances etc.), but maybe this can be an interesting idea for you.

I don't know yet if it's good or bad , but that's definitely an idea I can check, thank you.

It's advocated in some books on the Slav, at least by Lakdawala and Vigus. But those books were published in 2011 and 2008 respectively so maybe their analysis is outdated. Anyway, glad that I gave you an idea and good luck happy.png
