Can't decide what openings to play

At my level, I just follow basic opening principles http://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/basic-principles-of-chess-openings

Just sit down with you chess board, your computer and a good opening book and study! It takes time but it pays off!

Well, thanks for all the advice, but I would definitely consider myself a positional player, I do need to improve in tactics badly. My repretoire right now is (for black) french defense and owens defense, then nimzo indian, and every now and then the grunfeld. For white. I like to play scotch, four knights scotch, and I was trying the ruy lopez, but gave up on it because of how well it is known by others. I've tried soo many openings, but I just can't decide which ones are my favorite.

I understand that, but I just want to stick with a few openings forever lol. So I don't have to learn solid openings later, I want to learn and implement them now.

Seems like somebody blame the opening again. There is nothing wrong with an opening. It is just a few moves maybe 5.
Fischer, Karpov, Kasparov, etc play(ed) 1. e4 c5. They win but I lose. I have the same opening but not the same result. So 1. e4 c5 is wrong for me and right for them.
Hmmmm.... sigh.....

That is not the best way to improve. My rating here is around 1300. If I wasted my time studying openings, I am sure it would be lower. Try to improve on tactics and endgame. Play chess960, that way you don't have to worry about what opening.
