I Wonder Why

( So,Sicilian Defense {1.e4 c5 } is an Inaccuracy n' inferior to French Defense {1.e4 e6} ? )

odyson

Being a French player, I have to agree.

blasterdragon

no its definatley not an innacuracy as LongIslandMark correctly said computers are not very realiable in the opening the just don't have the positional judgement skills we humans have but they have excellent raw power

NimzoRoy

All this hogwash about computers not being very reliable in the opening is just a waste of everone's time. Being told 1...c5 (or 1...c6 in my case) is inaccurate is a relatively recent occurence (here) and doesn't happen when I use Fritz 12 or any other engine. BUT I've noticed that some of us rely on our own opinions more than everyone else's facts.

Another symptom of corrupted software here is that the chess.com PC used to state "book move" (for up to 18 moves in my experience)  Now it states "book move" after White's first move and that's it. Not only a waste of time but another excuse to make up hogwash about computers lack of opening "skills."

BTW chess software programs have no "opening skills" whatsoever. They use an "opening book" which was made up by humans and simply parrot out whatever they've been "told" or programmed to do.

It took the staff several wks to correct a major problem in create tnmts - advanced options so I'm hoping this problem will also get fixed eventually. Everyone interested should contact the staff directly via Help & Support to remind them but the problem hasn't gone away on its own.

Computer chess is OK. But I prefer to play against humans.

It's more FUN. The games are more interesting and creative.

edoo_chess

Computers are still not reliable for the first several moves in the game, dont use computer judgment for opening.

I guess the computer hasn't taken long for it. Take a well-functioning Houdini and a quick and give it a day to consider the first move. I bet it will give Black a decisive advantage :-)

Just as a double-edged endgame: the horizon lies too far ahead.

awsomeness321

too far

sampogo

maybe the computer prefers the french defense?

netzach

Computers are anti-sicilian because they hate losing.

This is part of staff-training ''cure chess-nerd impatience'' measures piloted in the games-database initially.

I've always played the Sicilian but have been experimenting with the French recently and winning more easily, so i'll agree also.

Tnx .. Maybe I should try the French next time then .. Smile

Actually,the Computer Analysis also gave a Suggested Line for 1...e6 n' 1...c5 :

It also said that my 3rd Move ( 3...e5 ) ,in this Game is an Inaccuracy :

.. n' that my 4th Move ( 4...Nf6 ), is a Mistake :

Noreaster

The secret is to play the French as often as possible

awsomeness321

Haha... LOL

VirtualMichael

When I did 1 ... c5 after 1. e4, the 2000 level computer said that perhaps better was 1 ...d5
???

Kikyo_Sushi

So Confirmed .. it hates Sicilian ! .. lol

tliu1222

They say that there is an awesome tempo-loser in d5, which is why it must be played.

Get a new computer with an opening database. That one stinks!
