D4 OR E4!!!!!

Both are equally fine, it depends on your style of play.
Pease don't use all caps or too many exclamation marks.

After 1.d4,f5 2.Qd3 you not only move the queen, but prepare the Manhattan Gambit.
Anyway I like 1.d4 just because its openings are typically more flexible and have a better build up. You'll have to look out for tactical tricks from black, especially with the Budapest lines. The queen's "gambit" is also a better opening than the king's gambit. ^_^

The KG is not "busted". It's no longer played at top levels, because black achieves equality, but you can't call it "busted".

1: e4! c5?! 2: d4!! clear white edge
1: e4! e5!? 2 f4!! with a slight white edge
1: e4! e6!? 2: b3!? with an unclear position
1: e4! c6?! 2: d4 d5 3: e5 Bf5 4: Nc3 e6 5: g4!! with a sharp position, which sacrificing pawns is the main method to win.
Rest is just easy. ¨1: e4 is best by test¨ (Bobby Fisher)

e4, d4 is very passive, and you can only play my favorite opening with e4, the parham.
Shawkshank is right. D4 is passive bc those who play d4 usually do it because it's safe. Theoretical it is very aggressive but e4 in human terms is more aggressive. E4 is striking a claim at the center with nothing protecting on the first move. e4 Much more bold.

e4 is the most agressive opening move but by no means is d4 a passive opening there are many agressive lines in d4 openings. also just because you are not atack the enemy king its does not mean that your playing passivly. you seem to have a confusion between positonal and tactical thinking positonal gamees are passive and tactical games are agressive.

The KG is not "busted". It's no longer played at top levels, because black achieves equality, but you can't call it "busted".

Though I strongly disagree with the taking the beauty out of chess part:

In the first notice the gorgeous pawn structure, and in the second take special note of white's elegant piece coordination and how he brings the king to the queenside where it's needed more, and then back to the kingside when the queenside weaknesses were taken care of.

I'm bluntly bored of 1.d4. Why does it always end up as a queens gambit line? Perhaps because it is much safer than gambit on the kingside.
