Usually just Be7 or Nbd7 to support the f6 knight

I play the French defence exchange variation as black and the Ruy Lopez quite a bit and I find that I tend to get my Kingside knight pinned to the Queen by my opponents Kingside Bishop quite often in the way shown in the diagram.
While this is certainly not fatal, I find it quite annoying because if I move the queen to remove the pin my opponent can double my kingside pawns by trading. I find the pin less annoying on the opposite side because a. it can be castled out of b. the doubled pawns don't weaken my kings protection. What are some general principles to consider when dealing with these pins in the opening that can be applied to a wide variety of opening systems? Thanks.
