Do you think the "Queen's Gambit" is a good opening?

Everyone knows about the Queen's Gambit, a very aggressive but popular opening in chess. But I have a question regarding it: Is it good or bad?

QGD was good enough for 25/27 games between Capablanca and Alekhine in their WCM. It has always been popular at the top. Both QGD and QDA are considered sound. I am only learning it just now, as I am an 1.e4 player normally. It is considered good for both sides. It is more aggressive than the London system set up, in that it initiates tension and an attack to the d5 square with a goal to be able to achieve two central pawns. That is the key battle, white tries to claim the centre, black either accepts the material and attempts to retain that, or attempts to compete for control of the centre.

It's only been played thousands upon thousands upon thousands of times. That should answer your question right there.
