Does the Knight sacrifice refute the Damiano defence?

Yup. It’s good and remember it. You can’t only do it when 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f6, you can play it sometimes at other positions except when the e5 pawn is getting guarded by the knight on c6 but stilll f6 is a bad move, but that does not mean you can’t do it in any position that exsists. You can disobey Benjamin Finegold’s rule sometimes

Even if you play the best move, Qe7, you still end up with a losing position if White just makes normal moves.

That’s how bad the Damian is.

@DieRobotDie, please share with us how White wins the rook.

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f6 3.Nxe5! Qe7! 4. Qh5 g6 5.Ng6 Qxe4+ and Black wins by taking the N on g6.

It gives white a lead in development after Qe7

"It gives White a winning position after Qe7" would be more accurate.

Damaino simply doesn’t work, even if black plays the best moves after knight sac he will always be in a losing position. f6 does nothing except block the knight and weaken the king
