I didn't find anything on Wikipedia. My Arena 3.5.1 calls it "Open Game" and Chess.com's Explorer calls it "King's Pawn Opening: King's Knight Variation". But that doesn't take into account black's 2. ... Bd6 move. I was hoping for a more poetic name, such as Macedonian Game or Donkey Opening or something happy.png Do you know any such name for this opening? Thanks.

Watermelon-Man

I think it derrives from the Italian variation from the Petrov

Yigor

AFAIK there is no official name for 2...Bd6. tongue.png

it's called the bsdtbhdpwhbatbidlafphp opening. it stands for 'black stupidly decided to block his d pawn with his bishop and the bishop is doing little apart from protecting his pawn.'
