Here I am going to share my favorite openings, and you can share yours! We can discuss opening theory, no matter what rating you are! I hope to see some of my friends posting on here *hint hint* 😉

Queen's Gambit Accepted: Old Variation

checkmatemark04
I like to play Boor’s attack against the Queen’s Gambit Slav Defense. I recommend that set of lessons to any Queen’s Gambit player.

Slav Defense for black does get annoying but it crams black up while white has an open way especially after you advance the c4 pawn to c5

Yes, however, in Boor’s Attack, you exchange pawns on d5, and then play f3, wanting a future e4.

Btw for anyone reading this, no cursing is allowed, and no religious or political arguing either.

and Btw b4

checkmatemark04

Yes, I might report them.

As White, I play e4 a lot, and I love to use this Opening Gambit against the Giucco Piano.

The idea is to develop rapidly, it was used by Adolf Anderrson in his famous game.

checkmatemark04

This is his game. You can see how he used his advantage in development to take control of the game. The Nf6+ move is very debatable, analysts over the years have found defenses for Black, but whatever the truth, it is a very beautiful combination.

Evans Gambit

checkmatemark04

You play it too? It is a very exciting opening

LhcAndrewB

Yes, but it seems to be played very rarely

checkmatemark04

Yes, sadly the Romantic era is going out of style amongst the amateur players

Yeah... cry.png

Same with the King's Gambit

Possibly unpopular opinion (especially from those from this thread happy.png) My favorite openings would all be from the black side. They aren't in any particular order.

One of which is the Petrov, preferably what chess.com calls The Classical Attack

The Four Knights Game, Basically any of the more popular lines here, and I'm going to post it through the transposition from the Petrov, which is the only way I face it in a game because nobody seems to like the four knights)

And finally, the Queen's gambit declined. Orthodox variation if my opponent lets me. (Unlike the others on my list, I'm just copying this one from a database, just to save time and show the position. So move order might not be how I (or my opponents!) exactly play it)

...with all of this being said, I sometimes joke with people that my strategy is too bore my opponent into losing.

checkmatemark04

Whenever I run into the QGD Orthodox defense I usually play the Catalan.

checkmatemark04

I used to play the Sicilian all of the time, but I don’t play it very much now, because I started running into either the Bowdler Attack, or the Canal Attack. If someone has knowledge of those lines, could they please share it here?
