I have a few tricks..

If you play 1...h5, you have no tricks. You are merely tricking yourself! SMH

It's not like I'm gonna go for 2...Rh6 for the hopes of rook lifting and lose an exchange lol.

1...h5 makes zero contribution to your fight for the center and just weakens that side of the board. You will never convince your superiors that you came up with some great idea, because you didn't. All you are doing is destroying your own game by forcing yourself to habitually make bad moves. It does not have to hang material or allow make to be bad.

Chess is boring anyway, why not make it more fun by playing flank?

Chess is not boring.

Both those games played this past Tuesday over the board. In the first one, after I miss the very subtle defensive move 14.Bc2, he misses a very deep tactic in 14...Nxc3, and then White proceeds to smash black.

In the second one, it is a race, White attacking the kingside and dark squares, black attacking the center, queenside, and light squares, and Black wins the OCB ending because he is up 2 pawns.

Chess is not boring. And as long as you play dumb moves like 1...h5, I will continue to wish you had played OTB in the United States at tournaments , I'd make a laughing stock out of you playing that garbage!

It may be not boring for you, but it is for me. And if I ever join OTB, I'd probably play flank too. Are you gonna keep yapping here or..?

Notice in the second game of my previous post, White played 2.h4 and got smacked silly. Boring or not, you will fail playing dumb moves like h4 for White or ...h5 for Black. But you be you and continue to be a failure at chess!

I didn't even bother to check the forum LOL, I don't care if I'm gonna be a failure or not, if I'm playing a game I don't like.

I don't care at all if h4/h5 is bad, I'm gonna keep playing it. And suprisingly, I beat a 2100 once with playing a5. I guess that's a failure too.

Too bad I find that boring too.

Grandmaster Mishra didn't.

Page 7 of the thread.

Mishra currently holds the title for youngest Grandmaster in the history of the game.

A title once held by Bobby Fischer.

... but whatever. Just sayin'.

Atleast I don't have to worry about it as I won't be able to reach milestone anytime... Lol.

Notice how by the second move, I was already losing by +3, but that's not what matters here.

All that mattered in that game was bxf6 to make it equal

Operative word - ONCE!

I have beaten NUMEROUS 2100s with far sounder moves. 1.e4, 1.d4, 1.c4, 1.Nf3, etc.

#25 "What are you rated?" let me answer your question, 1500.

I can make it twice too.

Having some fun lately with flank openings, it does seem to work too. 90% by luck and 10% by skills, though.

If you find chess boring, and want to play h5 because you only find that interesting, why are you asking the forum for advice? You already know what you want to do, so go do it. The forum is just going to tell you the line sucks, which it does.

I was thinking that I'd explore some of the other openings and maybe start playing a new opening as well.

a6 is actually a viable move. Much better objectively than either a5 or h5. You have to play it well, though.

the St George is a great flank opening for black.

tony mikes beat Karpov with it.

tony is the guy who played on a massage table against Korchnoi and had his wife pinched by Nigel short.
