in the old benoni the best apporach is d5 and not dxc5 so just decline the old benoni

and if they decline the Old Benoni you go for b5 . I've won lots of games with that!

Old Benoni isn't a gambit but okay... also are you talking about the Benko or the normal plan in that variation?

I'm not talking about the Benko but the normal plan in the Old Benoni after d5 by white!

oh that depends on what setup white does. Pretty common still.

What do you mean by that?

Sometimes white does an early a4 a5 and black must opt for f5 instead of b5.

if d4 c5 d5 b5 a4 then b4 and if c3 then a5 and white cannot develop smoothly!

Oh god b5 on move 2... Just e4 white gets the center... That's not the Benoni, not really... Or maybe it is but not a variation I know or would play

if d4 c5 d5 b5 e4 then just play a6 and if a4 then b4! and yes white does have the center but they don't have enough space for their pieces
