how do i avoid openings

when i play i love the openings caro kann for black and the stonewall for white and im testing b4 but in the caro kann there is a position id rather now get into is there a gambit or anything to avoid this and get into the main line or acvanced?

i dont like this to much because of getting checked mainly is there a way to play caro and avoid this?

It's not caro when white plays 1. c4; you're playing against the English. Black has several options, one of the easier ones being a mirrored setup with a pawn on c5 and a fianchettoed kingside bishop. Fiddle around with the other pieces as you see fit.

1. c4 f5 might be fun  haven't tried it, but it just sounds like a crazy game with tactics flying on both sides.

Caro kann and slav sometimes have similarities, and if you like caro probably good idea is to learn some slav lines as well
