Playing like Tal at 1100, then basically you just throw your pieces at your opponents army and hope for a combination? Tal may have seemed like that was what he was doing, but looks can be deceiving. He was a genius.
i play chess like mikhail tal what are good openings for me?

Diakonia no one will respect you. all of you no one will ever respect you for being jerks at me. I ignored you and you still reported me? I was gonna delete me comments and apoligize but guess what? I got muted when you learn what respect is then you can talk about it with me but until that day I won't talk with you. what you did was just hating on me and harrasing me I can't start fresh now I apoligized to the people who deserve my apolgie. But the people who disrespected me in the beggining and crossed the line nothing happened to them. that's whats unfair.
Maybe you should abide by the TOS that you read, nd agreed to when you joined chess.com. Good thing you dont care...

I can understand the people on this thread who support positive thinking and having ambitious goals. However, I have first hand experience that trying to "play like Tal" can be dangerous for chess development. People often don't realize that, at his core, Tal is a solid positional chess player. When people focus too much on playing combinations and don't try to set up positions as solid as his, they often hinder their chess development.
However, that is only what I have experienced. When I try to "play like Tal" I often play poorly. I have tried a variety of attitudes, do you know what the most effective attitude for me is? "Don't blunder". At my level, I play best when I simply try to play moves that don't blunder. They don't have to be genius moves, they don't have to be attacking or positional. Just solid moves that don't pose me any problems. I don't always succeed, but I think this attitude is more helpful for beginners.

For The sake of Allah...Wei Yi is going to become World CHump next and everybody will badmouth Carlsen next...
Let s keep this up...not. Carlsen deserves his respect. Heavy lies the crown...
"If you find an opening here that appeals to you and you wish to find out more about it, the next step would be to obtain an introductory text devoted entirely to that subject." - GM John Emms in his 2006 introduction to basic opening principles, Discovering Chess Openings
"Throughout the book Emms uses excellently chosen examples to expand the readers understanding of both openings and chess in general. Thus equipped the student can carry this knowledge forward to study individual openings and build an opening repertoire. ... For beginning players, this book will offer an opportunity to start out on the right foot and really get a feel for what is happening on the board." - FM Carsten Hansen, reviewing the 2006 Emms book

For what it is worth, FM Steve Giddins once suggested trying to play like Petrosian (in some respects). There must be some people who want to read about him. There has been more than one book about him.

I realize this :). The reason people think they play "like Tal" is because offense is easier than defense in chess, and mediocre players often consider themselves "aggressive" players, when in fact they are merely okay on attack, but awful on defense by comparison.
Somewhere along the way in this thread, there was a reference to a chess personality test. I am not sure what that was about, but I wonder if this thread came about because of some unsuspecting new chessplayer trusting something that was not worthy of trust.

I took the test, but question its accuracy. It said I played like a prodigy, which it said is Magnus Carlsen.
I can play the first five moves of a game like Magnus, but that's where the similarity ends!

Everyone thinks they play like Tal ;)...why doesn't anyone ever say they play like Petrosian?
Petrosian is one of my favorite players. His exchange sac's are classic chess.

I guess I'm doing fine. :))

Don't let the trolls on this site discourage you, Chad0. If you want to play in the style of Tal, simply get a good book that focuses on his games. "Tal: Move by Move" looked interesting.
I love this site, but who needs all the trash talk?
Interesting thread indeed.
But Mikhail Tal was famous because of his ingenious answers but not a stupid questions.
