And Black is just better

Any opening is good if you are good enough! Top level doesn't play it, but that's because they know how to refute it. People who aren't master strength may not know how

I play queens all the time

I play best when they do slav defense and play worse when they accept the gambit

Yeah pretty much any opening is playable if you've done your homework. If you know the King's Gambit well then you will likely have a practical advantage over your opponent. I don't think Black's objective "advantage" is very significant. If they don't play accurately then they can quickly get into trouble.

2... c6 refutes KG :)

Imagine knowing that 2.c6 is a playable move in the f8rst place tho

King gambit is a bad opening, and it has been known since the latter part of XIX century.

Of course there is a school of thought, that says, it doesn't matter what opening one playes. For almost every bad opening we can find a strong player who used it to good results. Spassky's explaination on why he used KG was in that spirit.

Kings Gambit is "sound" in that sense, that it leads to equality ( or so it seems). The problem is it is white who has to fiersly fight for that equality. If white makes no more mistakes, he should draw.

KG is still alive in 20/21.But only real chess players are capable to understand the value of this oldie.Blitz playing Patzers like FizzyBand are only screaming and shouting. These guys know nothing about real games.

I don’t even don’t even know how to respond to this but I’ll try

  1. KG is bad. GMs know that.
  2. If you don’t believe me, try refuting Grandmaster Matthias Wahls recent refutation of the KG (Schallop Defence)
  3. I wasn’t screaming nor shouting (that’s what CAPS are for
  4. My rating here is like 1K more than yours so who’s the patzer?
  5. Say you think online blitz means nothing. I’m a USCF Expert OTB in Classical (2075 USCF)

Magnus was just having fun with it in an online game and got crushed in a very un-Magnus like 23 moves by Ding Liren who played the Schallop.
