Can anyone help me with the Sicilian is it a good opening for black?
scrabblechecs

That depends on your playing style. I know that I hate it. But it’s clearly playable.

poucin

under 2000 level (maybe more), we can consider it as a bad choice. Too complicated, not enough natural.

sndeww

the sicilian is a good opening for black.

is it a good opening for you would be a totally different question. It depends.

it prevents d4 to be played. and you need to exchange if played. so white can not have 2 pawns in the center, this is a short/long term advantage for black. but ofc it has some consequences.

pfren

No, it is a bad choice for beginners.

I started playing chess at age 19. I saw a chess magazine and liked the name The Dragon. It served me well for 10 years because I loved it. I recommend playing over some master games til you see something you like. I think the idea certain openings are only viable at certain levels is bunk because most of your opponents in rated games will be around your level or lower and probably won’t have as much practice in it as you.

Solution is to prevent 1 e4

i usually play sicilian.. here is the recent game i played. i think it gives you chance to play an equal game instead of playing defensive as black

DrSpudnik

Any opening played by GMs is a good opening. Good enough for the likes of you.

I don't want to offence u but sure, u can advocate any opening (even 1.e4 f5) if u show patzers games.

A single game doesn't prove anything, whatever the level, especially at yours.

you dont want to offence? are you sure that you really dont want to do that?

get a title and insult anyone you want.. is that it?

you can simply say what you have to say, you dont need to insult anyone. and sicilian was played many times by kasparov when he was world champion back when...

dude.. i just respect your title but not to your personality.. this is just trash talking..

Please explain what offended u.

U just show u didnt understand my point(s).

Kasparov plays sicilian, fine. But he said (if i'm not mistaken) that beginners and low rated players should play 1.e4 e5 and 1.d4 d5, for some reasons...

To understand how to play properly sicilian, u have to possess some skills, experience, knowledge...

Same for 1.e4 e5 and all openings, but at least, to play 1.e4 e5, u will learn many things.

I already explained what offended me, actually you just showed you didnt understand my points.

You still are acting like a GM around here, if any game below your level is a patzer game then your games are patzer games to any GM.

You are on power trips but no one needs your attitude.

You have proven beyond any doubt that 1.e4 c5! is a brilliant move. Congratulations!

However, 1.e4 h5!! is even better- it virtually wins by force for Black.

I will use the same proof method like you did, and moreover I will use a very high level game- not the Woodpusher1 vs Woodpusher2 type of thing.

See how easily 1...h5!! wins for Black?

You can thank me later for the revelation...

sndeww

thank you sir @pfren I will now use this knowledge to increase my rating.

goodbye27

you are talking like im trying to prove something.

I just said my opinion about the opening.

It is actually "you" are trying to prove something, and keep targeting me.

I dont know why these titled players have that attitude.
