They are completely different openings, almost as different as two openings can be. They only share the first two moves.

Yeah, I think the Grunfeld is more of a tactical type opening while the King's Indian is a slower, positional type opening. Although the two openings do both have a similar thematic pawn break to undermine the white center. In the Grunfeld this would be c7-c5 and in the King's Indian it would be f7-f5.

Some people I know just talk about the King's Indian and the Grunfeld all the time. My favourite is the King's indian because its just so much fun!
