Learning openings through blitz play

Are any of you guys (or ladies) interested in training some openings through blitz games (rated or unrated)? I'm thinking something like (for every opening we agree upon):

- We play 10 games (5/5)

- We explain our ideas to each other (via Skype and the live analysis board)

- We check with books and other reference sources

- We repeat the above steps until we're familiar with the key ideas

- We do this once or twice a week until we've covered our opening repertoire.

Is anyone interested in this type of training?

Thanks for the reply.

Blitz games are fun for me to play. More fun than reading books and observing games (but I do guess moves in GM games). If something's not fun I usually wont do it for long.

And it's not just blitz; its also trading ideas with another player and using a reference (book or whatever) to gradually improve. I've done this before otb with a friend and it helped me play certain openings better.

I agree with you that blitz can't stand alone, but there should be some balance. I also play otb a lot (slow games).

Again thanks for your suggestions.Smile

that depends on your opening repritore after seing in another post I know that we both.

Play the Najdorf Sicilian

I Play the Grunfeld from whites side.

will the blitz games have increment of 5 seconds or more cause this is the lowest I can go. Under 40 minute games I always play with increment.
