I can't find any vote chess or themed tournaments to join, so here's a Nimzo Indian to get things started.

Black to move.

The most popular master moves:

  • 4. e3 Normal line
  • 4. Qc2 Classical variation

Ok, e3 played, black to move.

Well, I'd suggest to make the most popular moves when they are confirmed by engine evaluations. computer.pngexplorer.pngwink.png It's 4...O-O here.

In a position like this, I always feel castling is too early. What about d5?

All right. If U don't wanna castle, there are 3 good options:

  • 4...c5 Huebner variation (6745 master games, ev=+0.2, sev=+0.30, sh2=0.63)
  • 4...b6 St. Petersburg variation (4107 master games, ev=+0.1, sev=+0.20, sh2=0.82)
  • 4...d5 (962 master games, ev=+0.1, sev=+0.32, sh2=0.65)

N.B. sev = statistical evaluation (chesstempo, 2200+ vs 2200+); sh2 = statistical black sharpness.

According to these data computer.pngexplorer.pngstats.png, I'd suggest St. Petersburg 4...b6 having good evaluations and the good sharpness too. blitz.pngpeshka.png

One of my old OTB tournament games:

blueemu: Wow ... great attack and checkmate, I like your ingenious queen's sacrifice on h4! blitz.pngwink.png
